"The National Anthem" (Radiohead Cover) is a re interpretation made by the Venezuelan Post-Rock Outfit 🇻🇪 Zeta

"The National Anthem" was originally written and released by the English rock band Radiohead, on their fourth album, Kid A on October 2nd of the year 2000.

After their 1997 album OK Computer, the songwriter, Thom Yorke, wanted to take some distance from rock music. Drawing influences from electronic, ambient music, krautrock and jazz. Radiohead used instruments such as modular synthesisers, the Ondes Martenot, Radio processed samplers and horns to create this song. accompanied with Yorke's abstract lyrics to form a very complex sonical art piece.

Thom Yorke said Radiohead tried to convey the feeling of angry people trapped in a lift or traffic for this song. And in a write up for Rolling Stones the music journalist David Fricke called the song "Crusty Funk". Even tho in the moment of it's release many critics disliked the jazz elements, for us it's been love in plain sight, we felt not only drown to the beat and the melody of the vocals and later the chaos of the horns, but also the fact that most of the critics reacted in such a uncanny way make us admire Radiohead even more.

For Zeta since the beginning we have always had such a hard time to get our creative efforts perceived from a 3rd person perspective, we have always being criticized for a musical choices. this particular song represent the feeling of doing not what people expected from you, but what you really feel in your heart is the correct thing to do.

We first cover this song live at The Fest FL last October for the 23 anniversary of such a master piece, and people loved it so much, we knew we had to record our own version and share it with the world.
